Change and Configuration Management
Change control across the complete lifecycle
Change and Configuration Management is a tool to manage the seamless transfer
of engineering or customer order changes into execution areas therefore enabling
immediate reaction within the logistical processes.
The unique combination of the mySAP.com applications provide a common
environment to manage the value of a product from the early stages in
The integrated solution enables following processes:
Manage engineering changes
One of the most important
parts of change and configuration management is Engineering Change Management.
Engineering changes are logged and can then be managed for release into
operational areas. Digital signatures provide the security needed for release
using SAP Business Workflows that also allows you automate and quickly complete
the approval and release processes.
Manage production order changes
Order Change Management
enhances Engineering Change Management capabilities by making it possible to
include existing procurement elements also affected by a change into the overall
change process. It is possible to adjust production orders already being
processed to the changed product structure. Even order reconstruction activities
are supported by this function to enable completed production orders to be
included in the change process.
Manage claims and notifications
The change and
configuration management capabilities include first of all Engineering Change
Management. Notifications can be issued by a business partner or a customer over
the Internet. The project manager has the appropriate tools to track the
notifications and to decide to reject the incoming requests or to create an
Engineering Change Record.
SAP PLM supports all central

maintenance after it has been delivered. These processes correspond with various
