SAP Opens Services Center in Portugal With EUR17 Million Investment, Creates 100 New Jobs in 2012
SAP NEWSBYTE - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the official opening of a services center in Oeiras, Portugal, focused on delivering premium IT consulting and implementation services to SAP customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Portuguese Minister of the Economy and Employment, Álvaro Santos Pereira inaugurated the new facility, which will create up to 100 new professional and graduate jobs in 2012. SAP's planned investment of EUR17 million over the next three years will also include an expansion of up to 300 IT consultants by the end of 2014.
The services center provides off-site support for projects from consultants working in a culture or time zone close to the customer. This model helps to lower costs associated with onsite staffing and deliver value faster to customers. Teams working at the center will be specialized in the implementation of solutions and business processes in areas such as human capital management (HCM), customer relationship management (CRM), supplier relationship management (SRM), transportation management, finance and logistics. In addition, SAP will provide new employees with extensive training for the implementation of projects in new areas such as business mobility, business analytics, cloud computing and in-memory computing. To date, SAP has already hired 51 new professionals for the services center.
"The competitive advantages of our new services center in Portugal are clear: near-shore service delivery to customers in EMEA and an eager, engaged and well-educated talent pool," said Franck Cohen, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, SAP. "Built on this strong foundation, our new services center will provide significant value to our customers by helping them implement innovative SAP solutions more quickly and cost-effectively."
The SAP Services portfolio includes industry and solution-focused services; business and IT transformation services; custom development services; support services; program, project management and quality assurance; and education and certification. The portfolio is designed to help customers maximize the value gained from their SAP investments at every stage of the solution life cycle, while applying the delivery model that best suits the project.
