Victorian Government eServices Register Goes Digital with SAP’s Ariba
New eServices Register launched on Ariba Network to increase efficiency and transparency of procurement process, create opportunities for small and medium enterprises
SAP (NYSE: SAP), today announced that The Victorian State Government in Australia is going digital with the help of Ariba, an SAP Company. To increase the efficiency and transparency of its procurement process and create opportunities for small and medium enterprises, the Government has built an eServices Register on the Ariba Network, the world’s largest and most global business-to-business trading platform.
The register is an online self-service portal that all Victorian Government Departments and Agencies will use to purchase ICT services. Suppliers looking to do business with State Government can quickly and easily register and create detailed profiles that outline their services and capabilities.
The Victorian Government Chief Technology Advocate Grantly Mailes said providing the opportunity for a larger pool of companies, including local small and medium-sized ICT businesses to offer their services to Government will stimulate innovation, drive a healthy and competitive market, and create an enabling environment for our entrepreneurs of the future.
To power the portal, the Victorian Government will leverage the Ariba Network and the cloud-based applications delivered on it, including Ariba Sourcing and Ariba Supplier Information Management.
"Our selection of Ariba fits with the Victorian Government ICT Strategy in terms of using commercial off-the-shelf software to provide value for money where possible," Mr Mailes said.
Used by more than 1 million companies in 190 countries to transact over $465 billion in commerce on an annual basis, the Ariba Network is the world’s largest and most global business-to-business trading platform. Through Ariba Sourcing On-Demand, buyers across the Victorian Government can quickly and easily access the technology, expertise and services they need to create effective markets for IT services. And using Ariba Supplier Information Management, they can view updated profiles of key trading partners through a single platform and efficiently monitor and drive their performance, assess compliance and manage supply risk.
"Business networks and cloud-based applications are fast becoming standard tools in the private sector to drive business transformation. But as innovative agencies like the Victorian Government have found, they deliver compelling results in the public realm as well," said Justin Williams, General Manager, Southern Australia, SAP. "In building its eServices register on the Ariba Network, the Victorian Government can create a more efficient, transparent and cost-effective procurement process and drive meaningful change in the way government business is done."
