    • Supply visibility and execution. This demonstration shows how SAP solutions allow you to monitor supply chain performance, optimize manufacturing network planning, manage outsourced manufacturing, and enable supplier-managed inventory. Enabling you to reduce inventories and shorten lead times, build to actual demand signals,. improve customer service, and achieve a responsive, demand-driven supply chain Monitor supply chain performance. Jon Morris is vice president of manufacturing for OEC Computers. He uses SAP BusinessObjects Supply Chain Performance Management to define and measure performance goals. When he looks at cost of goods sold, he can see that material and labor costs were reduced by re-sourcing to Far East suppliers. But when he checks finished-goods inventory, he sees that inventory turns are down. Customer service levels are also down, and the company is paying penalties for late or incomplete orders. Jon will discuss with his team how to re-engineer the supply chain to become more demand-driven. Optimize manufacturing network planning. Robert Pitcher is vice president of supply chain at OEC Computers. He uses SAP Demand and Supply Planning for High Tech to get geographical and logical views of his supply network. Robert will take advantage of less expensive offshore components, have warehouses replenished by production based on a reorder point, schedule production orders only after the replenishment order arrives, and set up inbound supplier-managed inventory. Richard Simon is director of distribution at OEC Computers. He plans replenishments of distribution centers. He looks at total demand and total receipts. He then runs the optimizer tool to optimize supply network planning. He creates one order with internal sourcing, and another with external sourcing. The purchase order for the outsourced manufacturer is created automatically in SAP ERP and is the basis of the work order. Manage outsourced manufacturing. Michael Walter is head of production control for the outsourced manufacturer. He receives the work order from OEC Computers. He checks his production log in SAP Outsourced Manufacturing for High Tech and decides he needs to negotiate the delivery date. The next day, Michael can see that his alternative date has been accepted. A few days later, he reports on the progress of the first phase of the work order. The next week, he reports on the work order's completion and shipment. The confirmations automatically update the status of the purchase order, which is visible to procurement and planning in SAP ERP. Martin Schumann, the plant manager for OEC Computers, can manage his internal manufacturing with SAP Demand and Supply Planning for High Tech and SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence. He can see a new replenishment order has automatically been scheduled across assembly, test, and packaging, with appropriate pegging arcs. Orders are released to the plant floor. There's been an equipment outage, so the plant-floor operator sets the resource status to "standby." Martin receives an alert that the due date will be missed because of the equipment outage. A single click of the Optimize button allows Martin to automatically move the job to another production line and meet the required due date. Enable supplier-managed inventory. Shin Yuan is materials manager at an offshore supplier. She uses SAP Supplier Collaboration for High Tech to propose a replenishment plan that will maintain component levels inside the p
