    • SAP Value Management Center. Increase on-time, on-budget, and on-value performance.
    • In this demonstration, you'll see how the SAP Value Management Center site helps you benchmark the health of your business,
    • identify performance-improvement opportunities, diagnose causes of performance gaps, and centralize performance assessment across the entire enterprise.
    • This enables you to compare your business to competitors and best-in-class performers, prioritize performance-improvement opportunities,
    • and institute benchmarking as a critical business discipline throughout your organization – all through a single Web-based platform.
    • Joe Smith is the COO of VM Enterprises, a global consumer products company.
    • Today, Joe wants to assess the health of his organization and prioritize areas for improvement, so he logs onto the SAP Value Center Management site.
    • More than 50 surveys, which address a variety of topics, are currently available on this secure, password-protected site, with new ones constantly being added.
    • First, Joe decides to look into his company's supply chain. In a few quick steps, he creates a new project.
    • He enters the details, including the scope of the engagement, and saves the changes. Joe then confirms that all the information is accurate and clicks over to the survey.
    • The first page of the survey contains instructions. On the second page, Joe can enter quantitative information about his company.
    • For the supply chain planning survey, he answers questions about operating income, types of manufacturing processes, on-time delivery performance, and so on.
    • If he has questions about a particular term or item, he can easily find the answers. The last page of the survey involves an assessment of best practices.
    • To complete this, Joe consults with his company's supply chain executives to rank VM's performance in two areas, on a scale from one to five.
    • The first area indicates how important each best practice is to VM. The second area – coverage – indicates the extent to which a best practice has been adopted by the company.
    • For more detailed information, pop-up help is just a click away. Once the survey is complete, Joe clicks the "Check Survey" button so he can make sure that he has entered all the necessary information.
    • Status alerts let Joe know if any data needs to be revised or if any data is missing. Red, in this case, would indicate the need for data validation.
    • After checking the survey for data quality, Joe can view the benchmarking comparisons.
    • For Supply Chain Planning, he can see the results in the made-to-stock scenario or made-to-order scenario and compare them with his overall peer group, which is what he wants to do now.
    • This enables Joe to assess how VM Enterprises is performing in regards to the most important supply chain KPIs, or key performance indicators.
    • The blue bars represent VM Enterprises; the grey bars represent the top and bottom quartile performances of the overall or selected peer group.
    • Joe quickly realizes that his company's on-time delivery performance and forecast accuracy are below industry standards and have significant room for improvement.
    • At the same time, he sees that VM's performance around days in inventory is better than its peers. Joe then wants to see how VM performs against all key metrics.
    • The chart shows Joe where VM's supply chain performance is good and the areas that need to be enhanced.
    • A green circle represents best-in-class performance, yellow indicates above average, and red indicates KPIs that are well below average.
    • Joe now sees that VM needs to improve its forecast accuracy, which will have a positive impact on days in inventory levels and inventory write-offs. Joe then wants to check headcount metrics.
    • It appears that VM Enterprises is below average on the number of FTEs per billion in revenue, and overall supply chain planning costs, which tells Joe that there is tremendous opportunity for improvement.
    • However, although the total number is high, it is clear that those resources are well-balanced between strategic/expertise functions and transactional functions.
    • Finally, the COO can assess how his company stands relative to its peers with regard to the people, processes, and technology that VM uses to manage its supply chain.
    • Joe quickly ascertains that VM is lagging significantly in at least three key areas, which might be related to a lack of best practices.
    • With these insights, the COO now has a good idea of where VM needs to make changes. However, if Joe later wants to make further comparisons,
    • he can send an email to request a specific peer group for benchmarking. Once the peer group is enabled, Joe can review the results with management.
    • As you have seen, you can use the SAP Value Management Center site to compare your business to competitors and best-in-class performers,
    • prioritize performance-improvement opportunities, and institute benchmarking as a critical business discipline throughout your organization—all through a single Web-based platform.
