    • SAP Supply Network Collaboration enabling outsourced manufacturing. SAP Supply Network Collaboration enables you to outsource manufacturing processes, optimize relationships with strategic partners, and gain control over your distributed supply networks. This demonstration shows how the application allows a brand owner and an outsourced manufacturer to place an order, accept an order, change an order, and update production status. Place an order. Jon Morris is a material planner for LS Top Computer, a seller of custom laptops. He uses SAP Supply Network Collaboration to outsource the manufacturing of laptops to OEC Computers, a key partner. He starts by creating a purchase order for the laptops. He can create the purchase order in any ERP system based on a sales order, from a planning run, or manually. Jon's company will provide some of the components to make the laptops. The bill-of-materials explosion shows the components that will be consumed during manufacturing. When Jon saves the purchase order, it's automatically transferred to SAP Supply Network Collaboration and to the manufacturing partner. Accept an order. Natalie Schumann is a customer services rep at OEC Computers. She uses SAP Supply Network Collaboration to view recent orders. Both Natalie and Jon can see all relevant orders in a single work list, along with the actions required on each order. Natalie views the work order from LS Top Computer. The work order was generated automatically from Jon's purchase order. Tabs in the work order allow Jon and Natalie to track the overall order, each manufacturing phase, negotiations, actions taken, and partners and locations, including the ship-to address for orders shipped directly to the end customer. The tabs also include a production log, with detailed production updates from the manufacturer. Natalie accepts, saves, and publishes the work order. Change an order. Jon has learned that his end customer needs the laptops right away. He uses SAP Supply Network Collaboration to request a change to the production schedule. He saves the change and publishes it to OEC Computers for acceptance. At OEC Computers, Natalie views the work order details. She knows that production has the capacity to meet the new date, so she accepts the change request and saves the order. The software automatically alerts Jon that she has accepted the change. Update production status. During production, Natalie can update production phases so that Jon has visibility into production status. She can do this manually, or automatically by sending XML messages to SAP Supply Network Collaboration. She updates the assembly phase to reflect the status of the custom laptops. When she saves the update, Jon is automatically notified. Jon can report to his management and to his end customer that the laptops will be ready on time. SAP Supply Network Collaboration enables you to outsource manufacturing processes, optimize relationships with strategic partners, and gain control over your distributed supply networks.
