    • The SAP Intelligence Analysis for Public Sector application by Palantir provides a comprehensive platform to enable analysts to uncover and investigate fraud.
    • In this demonstration, you’ll see how the application helps analysts uncover fraud schemes, as it integrates multiple data sources, and provides flexible, robust link analysis across these sources.
    • Let’s say you’re an investigator who analyzes claims for an insurance company.
    • This is the first screen you see when you log into the application.
    • In the center are the active investigations.
    • At the top, you can access five applications − including the information browser, the graph, the map, the object explorer, and the data sources view – to perform flexible analysis.
    • In the left-hand pane, you can see feeds and updates about cases.
    • These may include new cases that have been routed to you, updates with new information on a pending investigation, or other feeds.
    • Now, you open the feed from the fraud hotline and begin an investigation on a fraud tip that has come in.
    • In SAP Intelligence Analysis for Public Sector, fraud analysts can easily work with data in unstructured, semi-structured, and structured formats.
    • The information in this unstructured document is “tagged” and associated with the entity for Larson Health Care Providers.
    • You decide to add this information to the key workspace − the graph − to further analyze the case.
    • Using the graph, you can perform very flexible and advanced analysis to investigate fraud.
    • First, you drill into the Larson Health Care Provider object to see all of the information available about this company across all of your data sets.
    • Here you see all of the known properties for an entity, such as the address, phone number, Federal ID number, State Medical Provider ID number, and so on. You see all of the related event information, such as claims processed, reimbursements received, and so on.
    • And, you see related entities, such as business owners and lead doctors.
    • You see media files such as photos or surveillance video that has been collected.
    • And, you see other unstructured documents that have referenced this entity as well as a history of changes to this object.
    • Most important, the software can integrate a variety of disparate data sources into a single solution for analysis.
    • This enables analysts to more easily detect unusual data patterns and uncover complex fraud schemes.
    • From the graph, you can search to see the connections between Larson Health Care Providers and other data elements.
    • You can perform robust, flexible searches for linked data such as events, linked documents, linked entities, or other objects linked by shared properties. On the graph you now see all of the claims data for Larson Health Care Providers.
    • The software delivers standard tools to help you understand and analyze the large volumes of information that can be viewed on the graph.
    • For example, in the right-hand pane you have the histogram helper.
    • The histogram provides information about data patterns and the frequency of data properties for entities and events.
    • In “event properties,” you can see that Larson Health Care Providers has submitted claims for four procedures and four billing amounts.
    • If the healthcare provider is registered as a laboratory, but the histogram shows that it’s processing claims for medical devices or equipment, then there is clearly evidence of fraud.
    • SAP Intelligence Analysis for Public Sector also provides a timeline helper for you to analyze the data chronologically.
    • Here you see is a significant spike in claims processed in a very short time period.
    • By selecting the spike in the timeline, you can highlight only those claims that were processed during the spike.
    • Then, you can drag the claims to the map application to view the data geospatially for any patterns or anomalies that indicate fraud.
    • The map shows that claims data is largely clustered in two geographic locations.
    • The first location is in Southern California, very close to the Larson Health Care Providers site.
    • And, there’s another significant cluster of claims in the Bay Area.
    • Drilling down into this cluster, you see that all of the claims are submitted for patients in a focused neighborhood.
    • You recognize this as evidence of fraud, where the perpetrator targets a neighborhood and buys Medicaid numbers from eligible recipients.
