    • Service parts planning and logistics. This demonstration shows how integrated software from SAP can help you: analyze the service parts business, handle back orders, manage service parts planning and collaboration with suppliers, operate service parts warehouses, and realize the benefits of integrated service parts management. Enabling you to: optimize working capital, increase service supply chain efficiency, deliver superior and profitable customer service, and reduce the cost of IT. Analyze the service parts business. Mike Peterson is the head of after-sales business at Smith Corporation. He uses integrated SAP software, including SAP Business Suite, SAP Service and Asset Management, and SAP BusinessObjects software, to analyze business performance. Mike sees he is on track toward his goal to reduce global inventory investments. But he wants to lower logistics costs. And he wants to improve service levels by lowering the number of back orders, particularly for parts in Product Group C. Mike asks his team to analyze the situation. Handle back orders. Oliver Brown is an expeditor at Smith Corporation. He uses back-order processing software from SAP, integrated with SAP CRM and SAP SCM, to reduce back orders for items in Product Group C. In his task list, he can see various tasks assigned to him such as back-ordered parts for critical sales orders. Oliver analyzes a back order and finds that there is insufficient stock. So, he informs Russell Markin, the supply chain analyst, by sending him an e-mail that’s linked to several back-order tasks. Manage service parts planning and collaboration with suppliers. Russell Markin is a supply chain analyst at Smith Corporation. He uses the planner cockpit in SAP SCM, integrated with SAP ERP and SAP CRM, to get a personalized overview of his work environment. Russell received a message about back orders in Product Group C from Oliver Brown, and uses the planner cockpit to analyze the situation. He sees high demand for a certain part and a proposal to stock it in Distribution Center North. Russell approves the stocking proposal. The software determines the demand forecast for the part; calculates economic order quantity and safety stock for the distribution center; and calculates net demand for the part throughout the service parts network. Russell sees an urgent purchase requisition that’s waiting for his approval. He approves it, and a purchase order is automatically created in SAP ERP and sent to the supplier. Linda Martin works for the supplier, Kugh Electronics. She uses SAP Supply Network Collaboration to work with customers on critical orders and forecasts. Right away, Linda sees an order that is listed as critical. The requested parts are available and can be shipped the next day. So, she creates an advanced shipping notification – or ASN − to immediately confirm the order to the customer. When Linda publishes the ASN, a notice for the expected inbound delivery is immediately created in SAP ERP, SAP SCM, and SAP Extended Warehouse Management. Operate service parts warehouses. Jack White is a warehouse employee at Smith Corporation. He uses SAP Extended Warehouse Management, integrated with SAP CRM, SAP ERP, and SAP SCM, to plan and process all warehouse activities. Now the parts for Product Group C are being delivered to the warehouse. When the trailer arrives, Jack uses the ASN number in the goods receipt transaction to select the proper inbound deliveries. Once he confirms the goods re
