World Economic Forum Names Alex Atzberger from SAP Young Global Leader
SAP today announced that Mr. Alex Atzberger, Senior Vice President, Head of Fast Growth Markets and China Growth Plan of SAP, has been selected as a member of the World Economic Forum’s community of Young Global Leaders (YGLs). Mr. Atzberger’s exceptional leadership in helping grow SAP’s business in fast growth countries such as China, the Middle East, and Russia won him this honor.
Each year, the World Economic Forum selects up to 200 of the most accomplished, socially-engaged, and inspiring young leaders around the world to join the YGL’s community of insight and action that is committed to improving the state of the world. The community helps leaders apply their personal success to global effect by catalyzing ideas that lead to impactful change. Together with the other 198 individuals this year, Mr. Atzberger will utilize his leadership, industry expertise, and society-serving worldview to drive ideas and change to tackle a range of global issues.
"To be recognized as a Young Global Leader is for me more about the potential of things to come and doing good in the world, rather than a recognition of past accomplishments. I always feel very lucky about the opportunities that were given to me, and YGL is a tremendous platform to create a meaningful impact," said Mr. Atzberger.
SAP is devoted to helping the world run better and improving people’s lives. Employees at SAP help address today’s and tomorrow’s challenges by empowering businesses, consumers, and governments with advanced information technology. This central tenet parallels YGL’s social motto of making a difference in society. Mr. Atzberger’s participation in this broader collective community reinforces SAP’s commitment to building a better-run world.
For the sake of human well-being at large, SAP focuses in particular on the development of fast growth markets such as India, Brazil, Russia, and China. SAP, together with next-generation leaders like Mr. Atzberger, helps make changes for the better in these emerging markets that struggle with difficult societal problems compounded by sweeping social changes. SAP’s commitment to these markets endeavors to enable every business to scale and globalize and every individual to benefit from the economic development.
Alex Atzberger holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and is a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business graduate of New York University’s Leonard Stern School of Business. Prior to SAP, he worked at McKinsey & Company and at an Internet start-up. He now lives with his wife in Shanghai, China.
